Preview: Nike SQ Dymo Str8-Fit Driver

I’m not sure why I was so late to the party, but I’ve just started to embrace adjustable face driver technology. And with the release of the Nike VR Tour and Machspeed drivers for 2010, the well regarded SQ Dymo Str8-Fit driver has come down in price. That was enough of an excuse for me to pull the trigger.  Well, that and the memory of the super cool advertising that Nike did last year leading up to and during the Masters.

The Nike Str8-Fit adapter and hosel

The SQ Dymo Str8-Fit has an easy to use shaft adapter and hosel system that allows for eight possible head positions resulting in eight different shot shapes.  The included wrench is unique because it gives you both an audible and visual queue to indicate when the proper torque has been applied to the shaft when changing settings.

The SQ Dymo Str8-Fit is available in both a square and rounded geometry version. I opted for the later which repositions square mass into a round format for workable distance and control without totally sacrificing a more traditional look at address.

Based on my knowledge of effective loft, I opted for the 9.5 degree model which will allow me to close the face while still maintaining a launch angle that will result in a penetrating ball flight. There is still snow on the ground here in the mid-west but as soon as things thaw out I will take the Nike SQ Dymo Str8-Fit onto the course and will report back results.  Stay Tuned.

In the meantime, if you have experience with the Dymo Str8-Fit, post a comment and leave us your feedback.  I’d be interested to hear about how others have fared with this club.

I’ve had the Sumo 2 for a while and once I changed the shaft out for a Graffaloy Red it has really worked well for me.

I can’t wait to see how you like it…the whole head/loft adjustable thing is really intriguing to me.
